PetArk Australia was formed in May 2006 by veterinarian Dr. Andrew Byrne and Equine and Animal Nutritionist Antoinette Foster. To the horse world Antoinette needs no introduction founding Hi Form Australia in 1990 and formulating and developing a unique Naturopathic Veterinary range of formulas for horses based on the modality of natural therapy. "Over the years many horse owners have asked if they could use the products on their dogs or cats, it was this demand that led to the development of PetArk."
Antoinette Foster has been a practitioner for 18 years specializing in nutrition and natural therapy for horses, dogs and cats. She began her career as a Veterinarian Nurse in South Australia at the age of 16. It was on her first trip to the United States where she developed an interest in Equine Nutrition. Antoinette has studied many courses including Equine Nutritional Therapy, Advanced Equine Nutrition, Herbal Medicine and Animal Nutrition. Antoinette approached colleague and veterinarian Dr. Andrew Byrne in 2005 and asked him to be involved. It was an easy decision for Andrew who has a great passion for complimentary therapy and it's use in the modern veterinary practice. With Andrew’s assistance and knowledge the PetArk range was formulated specifically for dogs and cats based on the enormous success and reputation of the Hi Form range.
Andrew Byrne has been a practicing veterinarian since 1986. Early days in practice were spent satisfying his passion for animal welfare & wildlife whilst being employed at the RSPCA Victoria. As he moved into more conventional private veterinary practice his passion for organic/bio dynamic agriculture grew & developed into more than just a casual interest in alternative medicine, especially veterinary medicine involving herbal and natural therapy treatments. Andrew found it extremely difficult working in a busy mixed animal practice as well as learning the workings of herbal medicine. Upon meeting with Antoinette Foster & her naturopathic formulae, Andrew suddenly found that he had the ability to practice using naturopathic veterinary formulae that not only worked but were easy to purchase & supply. Since the small animal range was developed, this has enabled Andrew to delve into the rapidly developing world of naturopathic veterinary medicine using tried & proven formulae, whilst developing confidence to use more specific herbal and natural therapy remedies The PetArk Kennels... The pets who reside with the staff at PetArk are a big influences on the range and often try new products out before anyone else. So, we thought they deserved a mention too!
Name: Otto but sometimes they call me Tola Breed: Bengal X Birthdate: January 21, 2006 Favorite Foods: Anything that looks even a little bit like food... nah actually, anything I can fit in my mouth but mostly chicken, beef and tuna! Worst Habit: Well they don't like it when I chew through phone lines, power cords and mobile telephone headsets but I don't see what the fuss is about. Something you might find surprising: I talk pretty much all the time!
Name: Lewis Breed: Domestic Long Hair Birthdate: August 15, 2000 Favorite Foods: Chicken by far, not a big fan of red meat. Once I went to one of those cat resorts and they tried to feed me lamb... YUCK! Worst Habit: Me? I don't have any! Something you might find surprising: I was born in England, in South Hackney, London. Mum brought me home with her when she returned to Australia. Don't get me started on the inflight service... terrible!
Name: Bella Breed: German Shepherd Birthdate: 24/04/07 Favorite foods: I like almost anything actually, but my all time favorites are chicken necks, raw beef and big juicy bones. My worst habit: No, I don’t have any bad habits I am too young to be accused of that. Something you might find surprising: I learnt to sit, stay, drop, fetch, come, heel, oh too many things to mention and all before I turned 4 months, wow am I smart!
Name: Mocha Birthdate: 1/10/2005 Breed: domestic long hair Favorite foods: I like beef and chicken and the occasional sardine My worst habit: I like to jump on the kitchen benches when no one is home; I am not doing any harm. But recently I got caught and did I get yelled at, big time. So now I make sure I do it when no one can catch me. Something you might find surprising: I can fetch a ping-pong ball and carry it in my mouth and drop it at my mum's feet, I am not trying to be a dog, but since Bella arrived it may well be worthwhile.
Name: Holly Birthdate: February, 2000 Breed: Labrador Favourite Foods: Is that a trick question, I am a Labrador! My worst habit: I like to prune the roses... but I would think that was more helpful than a bad habit! Something you might find surprising: I may seem quite polite but I have been known to jump on people.
Name: Amy Birthdate: July, 2006 Breed: Labrador Favourite Foods: Anything that rattles! My worst habit: Jumping on Holly's back but I think she likes it secretly! I also like eating my bed... Something you might find suprising: Absolutely nothing, with me anything is possible... or is that probable?
Name: Jackson Birthdate: December, 2004 Breed: Domestic Short Hair Favourite Foods: Fish, fish and more fish! Oh and peas, they are good. My worst habit: Pawing food off the table, especially peas. Something you might find surprising: Well I eat peas... isn't that enough?
